PRECIPITATION: FERRIC HYDROXIDE
(1 of 2 - Variations Available)
Sodium Hydroxide Added to Ferric Sulfate
NaOH in pipette added to Fe2(SO4)3(aq) in erlenmeyer flask precipitates Fe(OH)3(s). Ferric hydroxide is actually hydrated ferric oxide-Fe2O3 x H2O which is very insoluble(Ksp=2.6x10-39) and forms when the pH rises above pH2.
