Combustion of Red Phosphorus in An O2 Atmosphere
A vacuum created by combustion draws the solution into the flask almost submerging the flame in the spoon. When the water in the tube combines with the P2O5 solid suspension, it yields phosphoric acid, HPO3 and the indicator color turns red as pH=4
