ZINC IN HYDROCHLORIC ACID
(Variations Available)
Forming Zinc Chloride & Hydrogen Gas
Zn(s) in 3M HCl(aq)
Zinc reacts with HCl to form ZnCl2(aq) & H2(g). Zn(s) + 2H+(aq) = Zn2+(aq) + H2(g): Zinc is oxidized, loses electrons. Hydrogen is reduced, gains electrons.
