THERMITE PROCESS: REDUCTION OF Fe2O BY ALUMINUM
Exothermic Reaction Produces Molten Iron
Produces small quantities of molten iron for special purposes like the repair of railway lines. Aluminum is reactive enough to reduce less reactive metal oxides to the metal. Strongly exothermic reaction started by adding glycerine to the mix w/KMNO4.
