PHOSPHORUS (WHITE) BURSTS INTO FLAMES
(7 of 7)
Exothermic Reaction Between Oxygen and Phosphorus
Finely divided white phosphorus, deposited on a piece of filter paper by evaporation of a carbon disulfide solution of P4, bursts into flames on contact with air. The laminar flow of smoke becomes turbulent as it diffuses in the air.
