In a cell composed of zinc and copper, the electrolyte in the anode half-cell is a zinc compound (ZnSO4); in the cathode half-cell it is CuSO4.The salt bridge will allow ions to flow, maintaining the charge balance  It is filled with a gel of Na2SO4.
