POTASSIUM PERMANGANATE & SODIUM OXALATE (2 of 3)
Color Change Indicates Endpoint Of Reaction
Potassium permanganate is added to oxalic acid. As reaction proceeds, purple MnO4- ion in burette is reduced to barely visible pale pink Mn2+ ion and CO2(g) is formed. MnO4-(aq) + [C2O4]2-(aq) -> Mn2+(aq) + CO2(g).
