COMPLEX ION FORMATION: NH3 (LIGAND) ADDED TO CuSO4
(Variations Available)
Copper Sulfate And Aqueous Ammonia
Aqueous CuSO4 consists of hydrated Cu2+ ions ( the pale plue [Cu(H2O)6]2+ ion, (left). Adding aqueous ammonia to it forms the intense blue-violet [Cu(NH3)4]2+ ion (right).
