DIFFRACTION: PLANE WAVES THROUGH NARROW APERTURE
Aperture Is Smaller Than Wave Frequency
In single-slit diffraction, planar waves encounter a barrier with one aperture that is comparable in size to the wavelength. On the other side of the barrier, a uniform cylindrical wave emerges and spreads out.
