SULFUR BURNING IN OXYGEN
(Variations Available)
Sulfur In Deflagration Spoon in Bottle of Oxygen
Orthorhombic lump sulfur ignites in oxygen below 260 degC with a blue flame to form sulfur dioxide gas (SO2). SO2 is slowly oxidized in the atmosphere to form SO3 which dissolves in rainwater to give sulfuric acid or acid rain.
