Combustion of Red Phosphorus in An O2 Atmosphere
When the water in the tube combines with the P2O5 solid suspension, it yields phosphoric acid, HPO3 and the indicator color changes to red as this occurs. The deflagrating spoon is visibly glowing near the bottom of the flask.
