REACTION: POTASSIUM CHLORATE & MANGANESE DIOXIDE
KClO3(s)+MnO2(s)+Heat -> O2(g)+2KMnO4+Cl2
Heating potassium chlorate & manganese dioxide releases oxygen. Because O2 is only slightly soluble in water, it can be collected by displacement of water from an inverted bottle on raised platform.
