CHROMIUM (III) HYDROXIDE- EXAMPLE OF AMPHOTERISM
3 Oxidation States of Chromium
The center test tube contains a 0.1M solution of Cr(NO3)3 to which 1.0M NaOH has been added to form a suspension of Cr(OH)3. (Left) adding 6M HCl produces violet Cr3+ ion & (right) adding an excess of NaOH forms the green [Cr(OH)4]B ion.
