A white precipitate of Ag, Hg & Pb chloride (AgCl, Hg2,Cl2 & PbCl2) is  formed by adding 2M HCl to the solution. Hot water added to the filtered ppt dissolves the PbCl2  while mercury & silver remain in the solid.
