DISSOLUTION OF IODINE IN WATER
(1 of 3 - Variations Available)
Iodine solution in shell vials.
tin cloride in pipette
The solubility of elemental iodine in water is increased by the addition of potassium iodide. The molecular iodine reacts reversibly with the negative ion, creating the triiodide anion, I3, which dissolves well in water.
