CALCITE REACTING WITH A WEAK ACID (CC)
Calcite in limestone reacts with HCl.
Diluted hydrochloric acid is applied by dropper to limestone rock. Calcite within the limestone reacts with the acid and appears on the surface of the rock as fizz, the result of carbon dioxide escaping.
