IODINE SUBLIMATION
Gaseous Iodine Recrystalizes As The Vapor Cools
Solid I2 is heated at ordinary atmospheric pressure, it sublimes (changes directly from solid to gas). When the I2 vapor comes in contact with a cold surface, it deposits iodine crystals. Dark areas are recrystallized iodine. Clear purple areas are vapor.
