CUPRIC SULFATE PENTAHYDRATE CRYSTALS
CuSO4*5H2O (Copper II Sulfate)
Evaporation of a water solution of CuSO4 yields triclinic blue crystals of CuSO4.5H2O, which is composed of hydrated copper ions, Cu(H2O)4 2+ and hydrated sulfate ions, SO4(H2O) 2-. Compound of small, highly positively charged ions commonly form hydrates.
