MOLYBDENITE ON QUARTZ
From Molly Hill Mine, Quebec, Canada
Molybdenite occurs in hydrothermal deposits of ore. Similar in appearance to graphite, it has a lubricant feel due to its layered structure. This structure contributes to its characteristic cleavage planes.
